The picturesque Nottinghamshire town of Newark on Trent is centred around its charming market square, which plays host to a highly popular farmer's market once a month, as well as several quality European-style coffee shops.

The town has a long history dating back to Norman times with perhaps its most famous landmark, Newark Castle, originally having been constructed not long after the Battle of Hastings. The present castle structure dates from the twelfth century and, set as it is amid beautifully landscaped gardens, its ruins form a haunting and romantic backdrop for the town. The castle grounds are often to be seen playing host to outdoor festivals, concerts and theatrical performances.

Newark, with its scenic location on the banks of the River Trent, attractive small-town feel and excellent local transport links, has become a much sought after location for commuters to nearby Nottingham to settle in.
